They changed their name from Beaner's to Biggby Coffee, because beaner can be used as a slur against Hispanic Americans. This change cost them nearly $1 million.

Ann Arbor area locations at 2550 West Stadium Blvd, 3980-A Platt Rd at Ellsworth, and at 5245 Jackson Road near Zeeb Road. A Ypsilanti store at 1510 Washtenaw Avenue opened in 2014. 

A Plymouth Road store closed in 2014, a Liberty Street store closed in 2015, and Washtenaw and Packard stores closed in 2016.

April 2, 2014. Biggby Coffee to open new store on Jackson Road. Ann Arbor News. "A franchisee for the coffee shop chain signed a lease for the Jackson Business Center at 5245 Jackson Road in Scio Township."

Mickeleit was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, the country’s second-largest city with almost 2 million people. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from EMU in German Studies and a master’s from Michigan State, she is now opening her second Biggby Coffee store at 2550 W. Stadium Blvd.
