In 2012, the City of Ann Arbor ticketed Saline resident Paul Dobrowolski for displaying anti-abortion signage in the windows of his vehicle parked outside of the Planned Parenthood building. Dobrolowski sued the city in 2013, claiming a First Amendment free speech right.

The case was settled in August 2013, and the city paid Dobrowolski $7050, covering attorney's fees plus a refund of the parking tickets he had received. The settlement "permanently enjoins the city of Ann Arbor against enforcing its city ordinance against Dobrowolski’s vehicle signs."
