Ernest Leonard "Len" Quenon  (b. May 27, 1925; d. December 8, 2014) served as a Democrat on the Ann Arbor City Council representing Ward 2 from April 1968 to April 1970.

Quenon, Leonard 5/7/1925 - 12/8/2014 Ann Arbor, MI Ernest Leonard "Len" Quenon a long-time resident of Ann Arbor, MI died peacefully of natural causes at the age of 89 on Monday, December 8, 2014 surrounded by his children and his partner, Ben Helmke. He was born and grew up in a coal mining town in West Virginia; he enlisted at the age of 19 and served in the Army Air Corp in WWII as a First Lieutenant. He attended University of Chicago through graduate school where he met his wife Betty Whamond, the mother of their seven beautiful children. They made their home in Ann Arbor where he worked for RL Polk & Company in Detroit. Len was an active Democrat serving on the Ann Arbor City Council, Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners and the Blue Ribbon Prison Committee. He was dedicated to equality and dignity for all starting with his early work in the Civil Rights Movement. He served on the Board of the Unitarian Church in Ann Arbor and was a founding member of the High Country Unitarian Fellowship in Colorado. He instilled his love of the outdoors, sailing, skiing, and camping in his children, grandchildren, and partner. He is survived by his partner Benjamin Helmke, his seven children, their mother Betty Wurtz, 14 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and three of his six siblings. Memorial services will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation immediately following the service. Len led by example; modeling compassion, kindness and acceptance. His legacy lives on through his children who are teaching these traits to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
