Georgetown Mall has no businesses in it; the last, Kroger, left in September 2013. It has since been demolished, and Packard Square is under development as of summer 2016 on that location.

The buildings in it were in an advanced state of decay for an extended amount, and there was considerable interest by neighbors in having the mall demolished. One sticking point was the presence of contamination on site from a cleaners that used to be there. The contamination has since been remediated.

The property's owner, Craig Schubiner, was unable to obtain financing for development in 2012, according to an AnnArbor.com story.

The long-anticipated demolition of the vacant Georgetown Mall in Ann Arbor has hit a snag and likely won't occur any time before November, city and county officials said.

The owner of Georgetown Mall in Ann Arbor wants to redevelop the closed shopping center on Packard Road into a $30 million retail/apartment complex called Packard Square. The site plan for the project should be submitted to the city of Ann Arbor within two weeks, Craig Schubiner told the crowd of about 100 residents Monday evening at a public meeting to unveil the proposal.

A redevelopment plan appears to be in the works for the former Georgetown Mall site on Packard Road in Ann Arbor, based on a notice sent this week to neighbors of the property. “A new mixed-use plan is currently being considered for the existing Georgetown Mall site,” according to the notice.

The property - 6.5 acres on Packard Road, just north of Eisenhower - is owned by Harbor Georgetown LLC, according to city records. Craig Schubiner, the registered agent of Harbor Georgetown LLC, had planned a mixed-use redevelopment for the property. A bank foreclosure notice filed on the property in 2008 indicated that $15 million was owned in principal and interest, but the lender did not proceed to foreclosure.

The property, at 2502 Packard Road, has become a ghost town of its former self as tenants moved out over the past two years in anticipation of a redevelopment. Developer and owner Craig Schubiner of the Harbor Co. in Bloomfield Hills got the city to approve a plan to redevelop the aging mall into a new shopping center, but nothing has happened since. Only Kroger and a hair salon remain there now - Kroger even has a big sandwich board sitting on the side of the road, advertising the fact that it's still open. Schubiner didn't return calls.
