As ThreeOlBags walked around Saline, we discovered a Farmer’s Market. Here farmers from miles around bring their produce to market. Fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, and original artwork are displayed on tables behind their open pickup trucks. We chatted with Jonathan Goetz from Riga, MI, which is about an hour south of Saline, who owns the Goetz’s Greenhouse. Goetz was selling bushel baskets of home grown tomatoes, onions and potatoes. He also brought along some of his wife’s homemade autumn wreaths to sell. The Farmer’s Market is held every Saturday morning (8:00 a.m. until noon) from the first of May until the end of October.

Jonathan and Karlene Goetz have been selling produce at the Ann Arbor Farmers' Market, bringing in fresh items from their farm in Riga, since 1977.

Pea season arrives - but who is selling pea shoots? asks Ed.... Goetz Farm has lovely English shelling peas and they are starting to have bouquets of their most beautiful flowers already too. Karlene Goetz has to be one of the friendliest of the people at the market. I'm already making plans to buy her flowers for some upcoming events.
