Jane Bird Schmiedeke, a resident of Ypsilanti since 1955, is a noted preservationist in the community. She was instrumental in the creation of the Ypsilanti Heritage Foundation, as well as the Ypsilanti Historic District Commission, serving as that board's chair and institutional memory for nearly 30 years.
Jane is married to Denis Schmiedeke, an architect.
