Elections in Michigan can take place four times a year, on the second Tuesdays of February, May, August, and November.
School elections generally happen in May. August is usually primaries. November has the busiest ballots. February is for "other" ballot items - some suggest that February is the target ballot for items that the proponents of want a low turnout for.

Ann Arbor City
- Ann Arbor Mayor - 2 year terms, even years, partisan primary in August, partisan general election in November
- Ann Arbor City Council - 4 year terms, even years (half Presidential election years, half gubernatorial election years), partisan primary in August, partisan general in November. (Through 2016, council elections were held every year, for staggered 2-year terms; due to a charter change, the 2017 elections were the last odd-year elections, for terms lasting until 2020; beginning in 2018, council will be elected to 4-year terms.)
Washtenaw County
- County Commission - 2 year terms, even years, partisan primary in August, partisan general in November.
- Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff, County Clerk/Register of Deeds, County Treasurer and Drain Commissioner - 4 year terms, presidential election years, partisan primary in August, partisan general in November
Ypsilanti City
- Ypsilanti Mayor - 4 year term, not-Presidential even years, partisan primary in August, partisan general in November.
- Ypsilanti City Council - 4 year term, half Presidential even years, half non-Presidential even years, partisan primary in August, partisan general in November.
