Pittsfield Charter Township is immediately south of Ann Arbor and east of Saline. Its approximate boundaries are Bemis Road to the south, Maple Road to the west, Golfside Road and Munger Road to the east, and Clark Road to the north, with most (but not all) of the land inside the freeway ring around Ann Arbor excluded. There are township islands within the Ann Arbor city limits.

Pittsfield is largely built out in subdivisions and office parks; at 30,000 residents, it is the third most populous local government unit in Washtenaw County, after Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti Township.
