Obituary

Age 60, passed away Friday, July 16, 2010. He was born on March 4, 1950 in Washington, D.C., son of Arthur M. and Mary (Hetherton) Armstrong. Russ met Suzanne M. (Dziurgot) Armstrong on May 2, 1978 on a blind date and they married on May 15, 1982 in Dexter, MI and she survives. Russ was a Realtor for Edward Surovell Realtors and prior to that was the founder of Wherehouse Records in Ypsilanti, MI. He loved boating on his 1979 Mastercraft, scuba diving, music, golf and sports, especially U of M Football and Tigers Baseball. He also enjoyed reading the news, had a very good memory, and an incredible sense of humor. Russ enjoyed entertaining and he was extremely generous. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Rebecca (Joseph) Palmer of Ann Arbor and Nick Armstrong of Chelsea, and his best friend of 50 years, Dr. Bill Munslow. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 20 at 11:00 a.m. from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home with Deacon Romolo Leone officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 3-8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to American Cancer Society or Arbor Hospice Foundation.
