Saguaro Nursery & Gardens (470 5 Mile Road, Whitmore Lake, MI Michigan 48189) was a mainly retail nursery owned and operated by Richard Turtle for many years. In addition to the Whitmore Lake store, greenhouses, and outdoor sales areas it sold at the Ann Arbor Art Fair and Farmers' Market and provided in site indoor plant care . At times it supplied wholesale plant material to other retail operations. In its initial years it offered a wider variety of plants than were available from other local suppliers, including succulents, cacti, water hyacinths and voodoo lilies. Some of the sales staff were University educated and had extensive horticultural knowledge. In warm weather the nursery was like a small botanical garden with annual beds and water gardens interspersed with rows of plants for sale. It is now closed.
