Kornilakis, Shirley Evelyn Ypsilanti, MI Mrs Shirley Evelyn Kornilakis (nee Jackson), age 71, died Friday, April 16, 2010. Born in Ann Arbor, MI, Shirley went home to be with the Lord following an extended battle with heart disease and diabetes. Despite problems with her health, Shirley kept a positive attitude and never complained. She loved life and did her best to live to the fullest. She married the love of her life, John Peter Kornilakis, in 1957 and together they raised six children. They owned Old Town Restaurant in Ypsilanti's Depot Town and Omega Pizza in Ann Arbor over a span of 30 years. Shirley also worked at the Saline Evangelical Home. She was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by her sister, Maxine Somers (James); six children, Suela Doan (Charles) of New Jersey, Thomas Kornilakis, Katherine Smith, Christina Kornilakis, Rachel Kornilakis (James Borck), and Naomi Postiff (Matthew), all of Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Christopher and Angela Doan, Alexis Johnson (Nathan), Christin Smith, Michael, Sydney, and Brandon Pope, Paragrine Borck, and David, John, and Daniel Postiff; and one great-grandson, Hayden Johnson. Shirley was a faithful and beloved attender at Fellowship Bible Church in Ann Arbor. Shirley clearly testified that she accepted God's gift of forgiveness and everlasting life through faith in Jesus Christ. As Proverbs 10:7 says, "the memory of the just is blessed." The family will receive friends at Fellowship Bible Church, 2775 Bedford Rd., Ann Arbor, MI (734-971-2837) on Monday, April 19 from 4-8pm, and again on Tuesday at 10:00am, followed by a funeral service at 11am.
