Restaurant on South University since 1938. It is the most compact of the bars located on South University with a traditional pub style. You can often find Michigan students playing quarters at one of the many tables and is a great place to catch a Tigers game at the bar. It is probably the easiest bar on South University to find a seat for the solo drinker and for groups the staff will gladly push together tables to accommodate. The Jug has rotating local beers along with a large selection of macro brews in bottles and on tap. Their shot selection is not massive when compared to other bars or restaurants on the block but the bartenders are always mixing up a new shot for their customers.

The Brown Jug does traditional bar style food through lunch and dinner with a late night pub menu after 10pm. They run early bird drink specials 3-5 and happy hour 7-10 with different specials that run all day.

The Brown Jug sells pizza-by-the-slice and spinach pie to walk up customers on Church Street under the name The Backroom and it is a very popular late night destination for those leaving the bars.
