WPAG (1050-AM) was the agricultural radio station for SE Michigan. Its call sign is gone, but the station continues as WTKA on the same frequency.
Its on-air and professional staff in its years included Ted Heusel. Bob Ufer broadcast Michigan football games on WPAG.
The studios were in the Hutzel Building, and Ann Arbor Alive radio occupied the space in the 2000s.
In 1961, Bob Seger managed to get a WPAG DJ to play an acetate demo of his song The Lonely One once on the station.

WPAG-TV was a DuMont affiliate.

In the days before automation, a rite of passage for many a young disk jockey was running the local control board for Paul Harvey News and Comment. My own experience came in 1971 at Ann Arbor’s WPAG. As the agricultural station for southeastern Michigan and northern Ohio, our noon-time Farm and Home Hour was punctuated with Paul Harvey’s “conversation across the back fence.”
WPAG was the original call letters for the local Ann Arbor radio station that covered U-M athletics; you may have seen ads with the legendary voice of Michigan football, Bob Ufer, and WPAG on this site before.
