Waterloo State Recreation Area (WRA) is a 20,500 acre state park (the third largest park in Michigan), split between Washtenaw and Jackson counties. In addition to its many recreational opportunities it is also a significant part of the Waterloo-Pinckney Trail, a 46-mile-long hiking trail running through WRA, Pinckney Recreation Area and Park Lyndon County Park.

Travel within the recreation area requires a vehicle permit.

Park areas & facilities

The park has four campgrounds, beaches, picnic areas, eleven fishing lakes, nature trails, forty-seven miles of hiking trails, cabins, and equestrian trails. Science and nature-related activities are held at the Eddy Discovery Center, which also houses a small museum of the area's natural and human history.
