Children's Playground is considered to be part of Bidwell Park and Big Chico Creek borders it. The land was donated by Annie Bidwell in 1911. Historically, the area was the Bidwell's dooryard leading to their mansion. It has been the scene of many events through the years but now that the City Plaza has been renovated, they have relocated. It still, however, remains a popular place for people to gather to take peaceful advantage of their democratic freedoms.

It is walking distance to Bidwell Bowl Amphitheater, Bidwell Mansion, Chico State, and of course, Downtown. Because of its close proximity to Chico High School, it is also a popular place for teens to hang out during their lunch hour. The park is a safe place to relax and have a picnic.

In addition to playground equipment for the kids and a lot of grass for relaxing in the sun, there is a single disc golf practice basket. Although it is not a place for a full round of disc golfing, it is a great place to practice your throwing skills before playing a real game at Upper Bidwell Park Disc Golf Course.
