Durham, CA is a small town about 10 miles to the south of Chico. According to the 2000 U.S. Census, Durham had a population of just 5,220. It is mainly an agricultural town, with many almond orchards. In fact, most of the world's almond supply comes from Northern California, and Durham is a huge supplier of those almonds.

Durham is a little off the beaten path, as it is not directly reached by the major highways in and out of Chico. The two main ways in are the Midway (just off Park Avenue in South Chico) and Durham-Dayton Highway via Dayton Road. It truly is a small town, without a single traffic light and only three schools (one elementary, one intermediate, and one high school), all of which share the same general site.
