Kona's on Main Street Kona's Deli is famed for its subs, The Works, and its question of the day. Often considered Chico's best deli/sub shop by readers of Chico News & Review. The deli is Hawaiian themed which contributes to its laid back and relaxed atmosphere. The walls are decorated with full size murals of beach and ocean scenery which include the contact information for the artist (The left wall when walking in, about 1/2 way back to the restroom).
When ordering, you start with a selection of preplanned toppings grouped by price range, then add what you want from the "works" which is a list of standard toppings (Lettuce, Tomato, Mustard, Mayo, etc) and add optional free or paid specialty toppings.

2008-03-30 21:13:52 I've always wondered why people bother with Subway next door when Kona's offers so much more food per buck. It is hands-down my favorite place to spend exactly $5 on a meal guaranteed to fill me up (and sometimes beyond). The various named subs are way more fun than the guys next door too. —RyanMikulovsky

2009-07-08 22:29:53 This is our kids favorite sub place. The quality is consistently good. Even if there is a line it goes quickly. Good value. Last time I had their tuna, which was rather plain - I actually like subway's tuna better- but that's just me. Next time I will go back to turkey and cheese - which has always been tasty.
