La Salles is probably one of the rowdier bars downtown, though nothing competes in sheer rowdiness with the Crazy Horse. Many local bands are known to have shows here.

While classified as rowdy by some, they have a nice dance floor with elevated seating behind. They have a full bar with Guinness and several Sierra Nevada beers on tap among others. The bar tenders know some of the more obscure drinks and they actually have the ingredients. Their specialty drink board is impressive. Live bands usually take the stage around 9pm and play until they close.

Back in the seventies and early eighties, it was refered to as a "Fern Bar" where professionals would hang out and enjoy a quiet drink.  S.F Cronicle columnist Herb Caen held court there once after a presentaion at Laxon Auditorium.  Today, sadly, it has devolved to a pit of stale beer and vomit.
