Opening date 1998

The Lindo Channel Bike Bridge is a bicycle bridge over Lindo Channel. Previous to building the bridge, crossing Lindo Channel from East Lindo Avenue to Manzanita Avenue was challenging when there was any water in the creek. The only crossings previously were along the bike path near the freeway, which passed along the creek bed and was impossible (or at least very unsafe) when water was flowing, or at East 5th Avenue/Floral Avenue.

The concrete underneath the steel bridge has several murals painted on it, including a butterfly (which can be seen in at least one of the photos on this page). All of the murals have an outdoor/nature theme, and represent plant and animal species native to the area.
