Taste of Chico is a traditional festival put on by the very active Downtown Chico Business Association, which celebrates the diversity of restaurants in Chico. In September of 2006, most of Downtown was blocked off to traffic and dozens of restaurants set up booths or opened their doors to tempt thousands of visitors to their culinary delights. There was even a parking lot dedicated to alcoholic beverages, with a strong showing from many brewers, including Sierra Nevada Brewery and the Butte Creek Brewing Company. Visitors exchanged tickets for samples. In addition to food and wide assortments of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, there was plenty of entertainment. Local artists were not forgotten either, as a whole street was dedicated to them.

This year (2008), the festival is slated to fall on September 7th from noon to 4 p.m. Tickets will be available beginning mid-August and will be available at locations around the city.
