The Makai is a punk/crust influenced epic metal band from Chico, CA. They originally formed in 2004, and came together as a serious lineup in the summer of 2005. Since then, they have toured several times per year and released one full-length record, The End of All You Know on LP and CD on Seventh Rule Recordings. They also have a split 7" out with Attack of the Mad Axeman (Germany) and are set to release a split 10" with Nux Vomica (Portland, OR) in the late summer/early Fall 2009. In early 2009 Jeff Worrel left the band and was replaced by Adrian Hammons. They are currently writing new material.
The band won the 2007 and 2009 CN&R CAMMIES reader's choice award in the category of hard rock/metal and the critics' choice award for best local act in 2006.
