Entertainment at the Market Chico's Thursday Night Market is a seasonal weekly event sponsored by the Downtown Chico Business Association. The market is traditionally held every Thursday night between the months of April and September. For all official purposes, the hours are 6:00-9:00 pm, although the streets are blocked by 5:00 pm, making maneuvering through downtown quite a chore during the post-work hours. Broadway Street is closed to traffic between 2nd and 5th Streets, and 3rd and 4th Streets are closed between Main Street and Salem Street to allow pedestrians to roam through the market.

Vendors have many types of organic produce, fresh cut flowers, and other goods for sale. In addition, several local restaurants sell prepared food to the passers-by at the market. Live entertainment including belly dancers and demonstrations by local performance groups is found on the stage in City Plaza. Musical performances are located throughout the event. The Thursday Night Market is about more than the opportunity to buy local organic produce. It is a major social event for many Chicoans.

In addition to the Thursday Night Market, there is also a Saturday Farmer's Market as well as a Wednesday Farmer's Market. The Saturday Farmer's Market occurs in the public parking lot surrounded by Flume Street, Wall Street, 2nd Street and 3rd Street. The Saturday Market makes parking a nightmare until about 2 PM each Saturday, so be prepared! The Wednesday Farmer's Market occurs in the North Valley Plaza Mall parking lot, June through October, starting at 7:30 AM.
