A trench under the streets from Orleans to St. Aubin. The Cut passes through Lafayette Park, also known by its previous name, Black Bottom. It's a former railroad track that runs from the Detroit River warehouse district through Eastern Market and to the suburbs.

Graffiti

Underpasses, bridges, and arches in the Cut have long been the canvas for graffiti artists.

Dequindre Cut Greenway

A paved area of the Cut off of the River Walk. It runs from Woodbridge on the south to Gratiot. The Greenway is supervised by the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy and has paths, emergency call stations, cameras, benches, and landscaping. It is patrolled by Conservancy security.

Faye Alexander Nelson, president and CEO of the Conservancy, hopes to expand and protect the art in the Cut, but there are no plans in place as of July 2009.

The Greenway opened in 2008.
