The castle at 1942 West Grand River at the intersection of Cass and Grand River.
Purchased by Tom, his brother David Carleton, and their partner Sean Emery in November 2011 for $220,000. They plan to open it in 2013 with retail and restaurant on the first floor, and site their creative studio, Mindfield, on the top two floors. The rehabilitation is expected to cost $2-3M.
The Ilitch organization bought the building from the City in 2006, but the city took it back after no renovations took place. The City has been negotiating with Mindfeld since then.
