Beulah VanNortwick McGann was born in 1912. Her parents had met and married in Saranac Lake. She "loved Dr. Trudeau's work" and he arranged for her to enter Columbia School of Nursing. She came back to Saranac Lake and did private duty nursing here at cottages and Will Rogers. She met her husband, John P. McGann, here when he came to visit a sick friend. They were married in 1937.

Beulah V. McGann
SARANAC LAKE -- Beulah V. McGann, 92, formerly of 60 Church St., Saranac Lake; died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004 at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid.
Born on Feb. 21, 1912 in Saranac Lake, she was the daughter of David and Edna (DuBrey) VanNortwick.
Mrs. McGann had been a resident of Saranac Lake since 1995, moving here from Hicksville.
She was married to John P. McGann on Nov. 11, 1937 in St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake.
She is survived by one son, John P. McGann and his wife Marguerite of Marshfield, Mass.; one daughter, Joan P. McGann of Waltham, Mass.; two grandchildren: Melissa McGann of Luis Obispo, Calif, and John P, McGann of Natick, Mass.; one sister, Jeannette Shatraw of Saranac Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband on Aug. 31, 1988 and seven brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Bible vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:15 a.m.. Tuesday, Nov, 30 at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac take with the Rev. Kevin McEwan officiating. Burial will be held Thursday, Dec. 2 at Mount St. Mary's Cemetery in Flushing, Long Island.
Friends wishing to remember Mrs. McGann may make memorial contributions to the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad in care of funeral home.
