A Hunting Party in the Woods, 1856, Frederic Rondel Camping has been a part of the attraction of the Adirondacks region since well before the influx inspired by the publication of W.H.H. Murray's Adventures in the Wilderness in 1869. But "camping" has always meant different things to different people, ranging from the rigors of backpacking to the luxuries of great camp life.
