Charles W. Bryan, Jr. was the president of the Pullman Standard Car Manufacturing Company of Chicago. He owned the Racquette Falls Lodge from the death of its previous owner, George Morgan in 1944 until his own death in 1966.
Bryan designed the piers for the Hell Gate Bridge, part of the N.Y. subway system, a dam and power plant in Canada, and a shipyard for the Federal Shipbuilding Company in New Jersey. He was the son of Charles W. Bryan, Sr., a bridge designer and builder, and later chief engineer of a large company that built bridges, buildings, and other structures throughout the world.
