Mrs. Emma Pearl Smith  Kinghorn

NORRIS TENN. - E. Pearl Kinghorn, 92, a resident of Saranac Lake for over 50 years, died Saturday, April 11, in Andersonville, Tenn.

She was born Aug. 2, 1895, in Montreal, the daughter of John and Mary (Wynus) Smith.

Mrs. Kinghorn was educated in Montreal and served as a Voluntary Aid Dispatch nurse in England during World War I.

She was married to Hugh M. Kinghorn, a well-known tuberculosis specialist in the Saranac Lake area. He died in 1957.

Mrs. Kinghorn lived in Saranac Lake until moving to Tennessee in 1984. While in Saranac Lake she was a volunteer for several organizations, including the Saranac Lake Free Library and the TB Society, known today as the Saranac Lake Voluntary Health Association.

She is survived by a son, John Hugh Kinghorn of Norris, Tenn.; a daughter, Nora Grenfell of Charlottesville, Va., and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will take place Wednesday at the St. Francis Episcopal Church in Norris.

Mrs. Kinghorn was a member of the Village Improvement Society, where she was known to friends as Pearlie.
