The first Easy Street School was built in 1871 at the top of the Easy Street hill on the left. It was designated School District No. 1.

About 1900, a school was built to replace the original school about mid-way up the hill; this building burned on May 7, 1947.

In 1948, the last one-room schoolhouse built in New York State replaced the burned school. It was converted to a residence in the mid-1970s.

Christmas Program At Easy St School

A Christmas Program at Easy Street School was given last Monday night by the pupils.

Those taking part were: Danny Finlayson, Stephen Finlayson, Richard Fountain, Sandra and Sharon Goodman, Leigh Hadley,Martha and Donald Kirche, Joanne Lepine, Linda and David and William Rutherford, Stephen Simkins, Saran and Susan Twombley.

There were two parts to the program. A Nativity, and a dramatization, "The Greatest Gift."

Many parents and friends were in attendance and Santa Claus was greeted with great enthusiasm when he arrived at the end of the program, to assist in distributing the candy, popcorn and gifts found on the Christmas tree. The teacher, Mrs. Robert Stevens, was in charge of the program.
