Edwin Peter Fobare was born April 26, 1925, as Peter Edwin Fobare to Louis and Rose Fobare. He had three brothers, Irvin, Hubert and Lionel. Lionel was killed as a young boy by an ambulance that was being driven by an intoxicated man. Hubert, Irvin and Edwin grew up in Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake. Edwin married Mary Louise Sangiovanni. He was a World War II veteran who was present at the liberation of Dachau Concentration Camp in Dachau, Germany. (April 29, 1945). Edwin and Mary adopted a daughter, Patricia Ann Fobare in 1957. Edwin worked for J. J. O'Connell Construction as an architect and a builder for many years, completing many beautiful projects in Saranac Lake and Lake Placid (The Rockefeller Estate, Mirror Lake Inn, The Lake Placid Club). When J. J. O'Connell died, Edwin went to work for the state of NY. Edwin was a avid hunter and was New York State rifle champion for many years. He enjoyed shooting at the Fish and Game Club with his good friends Marty Watson and Frank Blum. He also enjoyed golf and was part of the Friday night league at the Saranac Lake golf course for many years. Edwin was also the building inspector for the Village of Saranac Lake, a job that he loved. He died from complication of diabetes and renal failure on November 13, 1997, which was twenty years to the day after his father Louis died (Nov. 13, 1977).
