Elizabeth C. Fletcher was a cook at Downing and Cane's Restaurant for 24 years and the Blue Gentian Restaurant for 25 years.

SARANAC LAKE - Elizabeth C. Fletcher, 95, formerly of 3 Riverside Drive, Saranac Lake, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 1995 at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid.

She had been a resident of Saranac Lake since 1912 and had been employed as a cook at Downing and Cane's Restaurant for 24 years and the Blue Gentian Restaurant for 25 years. She was one of the first employees of WNBZ, working at the radio station for 52 years until 1984. She had been police matron for the Saranac Lake Police Department for several years.

Survivors include a son, Philip Fletcher of Syracuse and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Howard, Gordon, and Boniface Fletcher; and three sisters, Eunice Laware, Mary Smith, and Patricia Lavery.

Calling hours will be held at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. A bible vigil will be held at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:15 a.m Tuesday at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake. Interment wil! be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale in May.

Memorial donations may be made to the Carmelite Monastery or to the Saranac Lake Rescue Squad.
