SARANAC LAKE — Mrs. Elizabeth Latour, 79, of 10 1/2 Mountain Road, a longtime local schoolteacher, died Sunday, Feb. 22, at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake.
She was born in Saranac Lake Sept. 20, 1907, the daughter of Edward J., and Elizabeth (Sullivan) Kennedy. She was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake and a 1931 graduate of Marymount College in Tarry town. Mrs. Latour worked as an elementary school teacher in Saranac Lake from 1931 until her retirement in 1970. She was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and the Catholic Daughters, Court St. Bernard.
In 1938 she was married to Tuffield Latour, who died July 3,1965. Mrs. Latour is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Sister Brian-Marie) Latour, A. Elizabeth Latour and Mrs. Donald (Ann) Fina, all of Saranac Lake; a son, Patrick, of Schenectady, and nine grandsons. A sister, Agnes Kennedy, and a brother, Edward Kennedy, predeceased her.
Calling hours are scheduled for 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Fortune Funeral Home. A Bible vigil will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with members of the Third Order of St. Francis and the Catholic Daughters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard's Church.
Burial will be at St. Bernard's Cemetery in May.
Donations in Mrs. Latour's memory may be made in care of the funeral home to St. Bernard's School.
