Ella W. Greene
Miss Ella W. Greene died Thursday afternoon at Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone where she had been a patient since Thanksgiving. She was born Sept. 25, 1885 in Peru, N. Y.
She was the elder daughter of Ira and Mary Otis Greene. A younger daughter, Josephine, is deceased. She moved to Lake Clear when very young and attended school in Lake Clear and Bloomingdale. She had been a resident of Saranac Lake since 1911. For several years she was a seamstress and a clerk in a yarn shop and later in a ladies clothing shop. Up to Thanksgiving Day she had been confined to a nursing home in Malone.
Survivors are a brother, Floyd H. Greene of Saranac Lake; nine first cousins including Mrs. James (Marjorie) White and Mrs. George (Carrie) Downs of Saranac Lake; and also a second cousin, Kenneth Douglas of Saranac Lake.
A private funeral will be held at the Fortune Funeral Home at the convenience of Miss Greene's family. The Rev. Lawrence Selig, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, will conduct the service. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in the family plot in May.
