Emilie Kammerer Saussenthaler was the mother of Mrs. William H. Haase, and the daughter of a wealthy St. Louis brewing family. She accompanied her daughter and son-in-law to Saranac Lake when he came here to cure.

DIES AT PINEHURST

Emily K. Sausenthaler, owner of Camp Pinehurst on Lower Saranac Lake, died last week. She was 73 years old. She was related to the Busch family of St. Louis.

Before her marriage to Peter Sausenthaler of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Sausenthaler was Emlie Kammerer and was born in the year 1850 in Wheeling, West Virginia, the State of Virginia in those days.

After her marriage she resided in St. Louis until about eighteen years ago, and following the death of her husband she came to the Adirondacks to be with her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Haase, whose husband was advised to reside here for the benefit of his health. The Pinehurst estate was purchased from the Ehrick [sic: Ehrich] family of New York and has since been the principal residence of the Haase family and Mrs. Sausenthaler.

The deceased will be taken to St. Louis where funeral services will be held and burial will be made in the family vault there.

Besides Mrs. Haase and her son, Peter A. A. T. Haase, Mrs. Sausenthaler is survived by one brother, August Kammerer, who lives near St. Louis.

WELL KNOWN WOMAN DIES AT SARANAC LAKE

Mrs. E. K Hausenthaler [sic] Passes Away After Long Illness; Had Undergone Operation

Mrs. Emilie Kammerer Hausenthaler died Saturday at her Pinehurst estates, Saranac Lake, after a long illness. For several years she has been in poor health and a few months ago was forced to undergo an operation in the Royal Victoria hospital in Montreal.

Mrs. Hausenthaler was a resident of Saranac Lake for a number of years before her death, coming here from St. Louis. She was related to both families in control of the Anhauser Busch Brewery company of that city and grandmother to Peter Haase, known as the million dollar baby. She was born in Wheeling, W.Va. in 1850. She moved to St. Louis after her marriage to Peter Hausenthaler. Following the death of her husband, which occurred 18 years ago, she came to the Adirondacks to be with her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Haase, whose husband had been advised to reside here for his health. The Pinehurst estate was purchased from the Ehrich family of New York and has since been the principal residence of the Haase family and Mrs. Hausenthaler.
