Children: George F. Leis, Jr. (b. 1903), Henry H. Leis (b. 1907), Frederick (b. July 4, 1916)

George Francis Leis and his brother, Henry P. Leis, built The Governor on Algonquin Avenue soon after they moved to Saranac Lake for their health.

His six year old son Frederick was hit and killed by a village water truck on April 27, 1923.

LEIS—Suddenly, on July 22, at his home, Saranac Lake, N. Y., George F., beloved husband of Mamie Leis (nee Broschardt) and father of George P. Leis Jr. and Henry H. Leis; also brother of Henry P. Leis, Mrs. Catherine Frey, and Mrs. Elizabeth Neumann. Funeral from his late residence Saturday, July 24. A solemn requiem mass will be said for the repose of his soul at St. Bernard's R. C. Church, Saranac Lake. Interment Sunday, July 25, at St, John's Cemetery, Middle Village, L. I.
