Gordon Partridge Dies at Home
Gordon S. Partridge, manager of the Saranac Lake Branch of the Marine Midland Trust Co. of Northern Now York from 1959 to his retirement last Jan. 1, died suddenly this morning at his home, 15 South Street, Saranac Lake, just before 8 a.m.
Mr. Partridge had played golf yesterday and had intended to play again today. However, he did not feel well this morning and Dr. Bradley Sageman was called. He seemed to be much better and was chatting at the table with Dr. Sageman when he suddenly felt dizzy and died. He had had a heart .attack before his retirement.
Mr. Partridge was born in Glens Falls in 1903 and graduated from its high school. He attended Wesleyan University for three years and Syracuse University for one, and graduated from the American Bankers Association School of Banking at Rutgers University in New Jersey in 1953.
He worked for the New York Telephone Co. after leaving Syracuse University and on Jan. 1, 1935 came to Saranac Lake as commercial manager of the Telephone Co. In 1939 he went to work for the contracting firm of Branch and Callanan.
In 1948 he joined the staff of the Adirondack National Bank and Trust Company and when it merged with Marine Midland, he became manager of the local branch. He also was a vice president of Marine Midland.
Mr. Partridge was married to Margaret E. Young of Badin, N. C. in 1939. They have two daughters, Mrs. Martha Wilke of Hammond, Ind. and Mrs. Mary Peria of Saranac Lake and three grandchildren Gregory and Jill Peria and William Peter Wilke, V.
Mr. Partridge is a former president of the Saranac Lake Golf Club, treasurer of the American Cancer Society, and was a member of the Saranac Lake Rehabilitation Guild, the Elks Club and the Salvation Army local committee.
The Keough and Son, Inc. Memorial Chapels have charge of arrangements for the funeral which has been set tentatively for Saturday. Mr. Partridge's family requests that those wishing to remember him make donation to Saranac Lake General Hospital.
