Malone Farmer, Wednesday, January 15, 1908

The handsome new farm residence of Herbert R. Dyer, son-in-law of H. H. Martin, located on the West Harrietstown road in the town of Brighton was totally destroyed by fire Sunday night. The fire was first seen in the roof and is supposed to have started from a defective chimney. The house was one of the finest farm residences in this county and was equipped with hot water heating, electric lights and all modern conveniences, it is thought that the loss on building and contents will reach at least $7,000, as the house alone cost in the neighborhood of $6,000. Mr. Dyer had $3,000 Insurance in the Grange and $1,000 with O'Neil & Hale's agency.
