Hyman Arlan came here from Russia in 1917. He was a World War I Veteran, serving in France. He opened Arlan Tailor Shop at 44 Main Street and lived at 44 1/2 Main Street and 66 Riverside Drive. In 1952 he retired and moved to Philadelphia to live with one of his sons.

Hyman (Hymie) Arlan, formerly of Saranac Lake, died this past month in Philadelphia, Pa., where he had lived after retiring from his tailoring business in Saranac Lake.

He is survived by three sons and their wives, Philip and Mariko of Dallas, Tex., Sol and Ethel of Philadelphia, and Lionel and Esther of Lexington, Mass.; and by nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. The funeral service was held in Philadelphia.
