John Tully was the son of a prosperous merchant from Malone. He opened a meat market in Saranac Lake from about 1895 to 1901. By 1909 he was operating a hotel in Malone.

At the races at Saranac Late last week, in the 2:40 class, purse $200, Walter S., owned by L. L. SAYLES, Malone, won third and Little Dry Dock, owned by J. J. TULLY, Saranac Lake, came in fourth.

The late John Tully left an estate supposed to be worth some $30,000 to $40,000. He also left a will under the terms of which his widow receives the use of the property for life and at her death the splendid West Main street store, occupied by the Huntington Furniture Co., goes to John Tully, a son, who is a well-known meat man of Saranac Lake. The reminder of the property is then divided into seven portions for the seven children. The share that would go to William, if he were living, goes to his two children. Barney is to have the income on his share for life and then it reverts to the estate. The other five shares go to the living children. Objections to the will have already been filed and a contest is in prospect. The case will be called before the surrogate March 7th.

John Tully sold the best meat in town for my money. Excellent pot roast — $.12 a lb. Grand for lunches when working ten long hours a day and walking 4 or 5 miles. Milking two cows and tending a very large garden.
