Marjorie Keirstead Hart

LACONIA, N.H. - Mrs. Marjorie Keirstead Hart, 86, of Laconia, N.H., died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Tuesday, April 23, 2002.

Born on May 2, 1915, in Presque Isle, Maine, she was the daughter of Freeman T. and Edith Mabelle (Day) Keirstead. She graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1932, Aroostook State Normal School in 1934 and N.E. Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1939.

Mrs. Hart lived in the Saranac Lake area from 1947 to 1978. She moved to Tilton, N.H. in 1979. She was a resident nurse, director of health and services and a teacher of health education at Paul Smith's College of Arts and Sciences from 1960 to 1978.

She was a member of the American Nurses Association; New York State Nurses Association and the N.E. Baptist Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association. She was active in the Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Chapter of the American Red Cross for 25 years; the Saranac Lake Chapter of the American Cancer Society and American College Health Association. She was also a member of the Laconia Congregational Church.

She is survived by a brother, Forest Keirstead of Reserve, N.M.; 10 nephews and nieces and their families.

She was predeceased by her husband, William T. Hart, who died in 1984.

There will be no calling hours, and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home in Laconia, N.H. The Rev. David A. Travers, interim senior, pastor of the Laconia Congregational Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Park Cemetery in Tilton, N.H.
