Max Cohen, one of the sons making up D. Cohen and Sons, was the general manager of the General Ice Cream company; he also served briefly as president of the Saranac Lake National Bank.  He was a son of David and Betsy Cohen of Bloomingdale.  He lived at 64 Park Avenue from 1948 to 1954.

NAME COHEN TO HEAD SARANAC LAKE BANK

Max Cohen, general manager of the General Ice Cream company plant at Saranac Lake for the past 10 years, has been elected president of the Saranac Lake National Bank. Mr. Cohen succeeds to the post left vacant by the death of Dr. Frank E. Kendall.

B. F. Norman was named as vice-president; George Allnut, cashier, was named a director; and Louis Pomeroy as an assistant cashier. Other officers remained the same. Dr. Charles C. Trembley continuing as a vice-president; Mr. Allnut, cashier; and Miss Norma Lascore, assistant cashier.

Mr. Cohen, a native of the vicinity, has made his home at Bloomingdale for many years and is a stockholder in D. Cohen and Sons, Inc.

Max Cohen

HOLLYWOOD, Fla — Services were held yesterday here for Max Cohen who died in the morning.

He was born in 1892 in Dannemora, the son of David and Betsey Zagler Cohen and worked for the General Ice Cream Corporation in Saranac Lake for 35 years before retiring several years ago.

Survivors include a brother, Lewis, Saranac Lake; a sister, Jenny Michelan, Lake Placid; two nieces, Mrs. Philip Feinberg, Saranac Lake, and Mrs. Jacob Sirlin in Florida.

The burial will be at the convenience of the family on Sunday in the Lake Placid Jewish Cemetery. Rabbi Selig Auerbach will officiate.
