AT SWEENEY CARRY 30 YEARS
Death Occurs at the Home of Her Son George, Near Bloomingdale—With Her Husband, Oliver, and Sons, She Conducted Trombley's the Raquette and Became Widely Known.
At the home of her son, George Trombley at Blue Ridge near Bloomingdale on Sunday, October 27, occurred the death of Mrs. Melissa Otis Trombley, widow of Oliver M. Trombley, of Sweeney Carry. Mrs. Trombley was the daughter of the late Horatio and Eunice Otis, and was born in Harrietstown where she married Oliver Trombley 46 years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Trombley removed to the Sweeney Carry on the Raquette River side where they were for thirty years prominent among the inn keepers' and caterers to sportsmen visiting the Raquette River and the Saranacs. "Trombley's" became known as widely as did the famous carry which started in their door-yard. Mr. Trombley died two years ago. Mrs. Trombley had been in ill health for several months and went to Bloomingdale to be near medical aid.
There survive two sons, George of Bloomingdale, and Sidney of Sweeney Carry; also five brothers, Joseph, Hillard and Herbert Otis of Lake Clear and George, who made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Trombley.
