Milo F. Otis, who for 20 years was employed at the fish hatchery at Saranac Inn and became an expert fish culturist, but who lost his position as foreman a year ago under the Democratic administration, has been reappointed to that position and resumed his work there last week. While out of the state's employ he has had charge of the private hatchery on the Whitney estate and has accomplished much. There are now in the Whitney hatchery half a million trout fry, consisting of rainbow trout and land-locked salmon, which will be distributed in the various lakes and streams of the Whitney lands this spring. In addition there are a million whitefish, and 5,000 yearling rainbow trout which average five inches in length. Some of them are as long as seven inches. James Otis, son of M. F. Otis, will have charge of the Whitney hatchery, now that his father returns to the state service. The many friends of Mr. Otis are glad to see him back on the job at Saranac Inn.
