Mrs. Sagendorf Service Held
A funeral service was conducted yesterday afternoon by Donald Anderson of the Christian Science Church for Mrs. Jennie Sagendorf. Cremation took place in Troy.
Mrs. Sagendorf was born August 21, 1876 in Schoharie, the daughter of Spencer and Ephie Guernsey Nethaway. She came to Saranac Lake for her health in 1894 and with her husband, the late Walter Sagendorf operated a restaurant, and from 1910 to 1940, the Berkeley Hotel. Mr. Sagendorf was also the President of Howe's Caverns and builder of most of the houses on Fawn Street.
Survivors are a sister-in-law, Mabel Sagendorf of Howe's Cave and three cousins, Esra Guernsey of Mohawk; Dorothy Longworthy of Elmira and Ephie Stockton of Paradox Lake.
