(From the Herald Files, January 11, 1924)

Two died in a spectacular winter sports mishap near Coreys 14 years ago. Nathan Shelley and Mrs. John Shelley of Saranac Lake died as the result of injuries sustained when their toboggan overturned, hurling them headlong. The slide, located near the Adolph Lewisohn Camp, Upper Saranac Lake, was reported to be almost 3,000 feet in length, terminating on the lake. The Shelley toboggan, traveling at great speed, bounded from the 'chute and spilled its occupants with terrific force on the ice. Shelley's neck was broken and he died instantly. Mrs. Shelley died before reaching a hospital.
