Patricia (Pam) Ann Mary Turner was the daughter of Harry and Marion (Richards) Passino. Her first job when in high school was at the Blue Gentian restaurant across the street from the Hotel Saranac. Her first job out of nursing school was a scrub nurse at the old Saranac Lake General Hospital for Dr. Carl Merkel and Dr. Warriner Woodruff; and sometimes for dentist Dr. Edward Mulflur. After working in the operating room she went to Sunmount V. A. Hospital and stayed on when New York State took it over for approximately 14 years. Then she moved to Naples, Fla., where she worked as a psychiatric nurse at Naples Community Hospital. She moved back to Saranac Lake in 1982 when she went to work at the Adirondack Correctional Facility as a Nurse II. After two other positions in Staten Island and Albany, Pam retired in June 1999. With her husband she operated Turner's Cottages at 4854 State Rte. 3 for 35 years. She worked to bring the Aldi's grocery store to Saranac lake.
