Born: June 8, 1920 at Stord, Norway
Died: January 9, 1943
Rasmus Brakstad was one of the Norwegian Sailors who cured in Saranac Lake during World War II. He was an able seaman; he had been in allied service on several ships, his last being the Norwegian Gansfjord, until he contracted tuberculosis and came to Saranac Lake, where he died. Unfortunately, no "Report of a Case of Tuberculosis" card was found for him in the Adirondack Collection of the Saranac Lake Free Library. He is buried in Pine Ridge Cemetery with the other Norwegian sailors. He cured at Sageman Cottage.
