Mrs. Ruth Thomas

Mrs. Ruth Thomas, 49, at 151 River Street, Saranac Lake, died at 2:10 a. m. today at Saranac Lake General Hospital after an illness of three days. Her husband, Roland Thomas, who operated the Thomas Boat Landing and the sightseeing boats, Miss Saranac and the Nancy Carol, died on Jan. 9 of this year.

Mrs. Thomas was active in Girl Scout work, most recently serving as Neighborhood Troop Organizer and a troop committee member of Junior Girl Scout Troop 133. She was a member of the Saranac Lake Presbyterian Church and choir mother for the Junior Choir there.

She was born on May 13, 1916 in Saranac Lake, a daughter of the late Hamilton Ford Towner and of Madge Clare Hutchins Towner who survives her.

Other survivors are two daughters, Nancy and Carolyn; a son, Stephen; and two brothers, George Towner of Arnold, Md. and Dean Towner of Austin, Tex.

Friends may call at the Fortune Funeral Home. A service will be held at 11 a. m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Church with the pastor, the Rev. Lawrence F. Selig, officiating. Interment will take place in the family lot in Pine Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas' family requests that friends wishing to remember her make donations to the Building Fund.
