Sylvester A. Newell, one of the best-known guides of the Adirondacks, died at his home in Brighton May 26th, aged 62 years. He had been ill over two years. For more than 36 years he guided fishing and hunting parties in the heart of the Adirondacks. One brother, Samuel also a guide at Paul Smith's, survives, besides his widow, three sons and two daughters.
