SARANAC LAKE - A Mass of Christian Burial was said for Thomas McGinnis, 73, of 47 Shepard Avenue on Sunday at the Fortune Funeral Home, with the Rev. Thomas Driscoll officiating.
A Bible vigil was also conducted at the funeral home on Saturday for Mr. McGinnis, who died Friday morning at General Hospital.
Mr. McGinnis was born in Constable, the son of John and Julia (O'Connor) McGinnis.
Survivors include his wife, the former Jeanette La Valley; two sons, Thomas Jr. of Orlando, Fla,; Wayne of Saranac Lake; a sister, Anna McGinnis of Waverly, and four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. McGinnis was a resident of Saranac Lake for 35 years. He was a state trooper for 39 years and retired in 1965.
Interment will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery in May.
